My husband and I have lived in Washington our whole lives, and are still finding places we have never been – Bainbridge Island being one of them. So I decided to surprise him with a little trip to stay the night in Bainbridge.
Here are some of the places we went to, some recommendations, and overall recap of our trip!
The Ferry
Taking the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge, is very easy and it runs pretty much every hour! If you are taking your car on the ferry, I suggest getting in line at-least 20-30 min beforehand. It costs around $20 for your vehicle and driver, and then an additional $10 for adult passengers. On the way back, you only have to pay for your vehicle and driver (not any additional passengers).
Our Schedule
During our trip, we honestly didn’t really have anything planned other than our hotel, and then I had saved some recommendations of places. We love exploring and just seeing what sounds good in the moment, but here’s a little play by play of what we did:
Friday
12pm get line for ferry
12:25pm ferry takes off (ended up being delayed a little, but takes around 35min)
1pm got to Bainbridge island
2pm go to lunch at Hi-Life
2:30pm explore
3:30pm check into hotel
4pm go to the pool
7pm eat dinner at Ba Sa
8pm get a late night coffee at Pegasus Coffee
9pm watch sunset and head back to hotel
Saturday
10am check out of hotel & get coffee and breakfast at the marketplace by our hotel
11am sit in the hot tub
12pm explore Bainbridge (there ended up being a couple of events, an art block party, and farmers market and we went into some shops)
2pm eat lunch at cafe hitchcock
3pm another coffee at Pegasus Coffee
4:30pm drinks at the brewery by the art museum
5pm walked around more, went to the art museum, saw live music, and ate at some street vendors
6pm got in line for the ferry to head home
Restaurant/Food Recommendations:
Ba Sa (Vietnamese/French fusion)
- We thought it was really good and they had a cute outdoor space
Hi-Life (Poke/Hawaiian)
- It was good, a little expensive for poke, but also their matcha soft serve was delicious
Cafe-Hitchcock
- Classic lunch spot, not a whole lot on the menu but the sandwiches we got were good
BlackBird Bakery
- Got here too late and they were already sold out of most items, heard great things though
Mora Ice cream
- Didn’t end up going, but the lines were long and also another really popular spot
Pegasus Coffee
- Loved their coffee! We tried their honey blossom latte and it was way too sweet, but their regular vanilla latte was soo good. They also carry Hot Cakes their too!
Our Hotel
This was definitely a highlight of our trip! You definitely don’t need to stay the night when your coming from Seattle, but I thought it would be a nice little getaway. Our hotel was The Inn at Pleasant Beach and it was gorgeous! Pleasant beach is around 10 min from heart of Bainbridge, so it wasn’t too far and even had it’s own shops/restaurants nearby.
Not only do they only have like 20 units in the hotel, but it truly feels like a little cottage. I really wasn’t sure what to expect, because the pictures did look nice (it was also pricy when I booked) but you never know till you actually see it. Once we walked in, we were so happy and it was truly so nice (way nicer than the pictures). We had a little balcony overseeing the garden, and were in walking distance of their large pool/hot tub. We will definitely be coming back!
Overall Thoughts
- Such a fun little getaway!
- The ferry ride over is also nice and short
- Definitely don’t need to stay the night, but if so the hotel we stayed at was so nice and I already want to go back
- Parking kind of sucks on the island
- I think it would be really cute to come during the fall time
